Welcome to our fourth week. By now, I hope you are starting to get your feet under you. It’s time for us to get up to speed and really start asking deep questions about your work, yourself, and the wider industry. So far, we have been introduced to the space, had the chance to meet each other, understood our goals for the program, and explored the many resources available to learn.
Last week, you had the chance to investigate what your questions were and what you were curious to develop in your skills. Did you write down your goals?
This week, we provide you with some resources and starting points to deepen and develop your knowledge of impact investing. You’ll start to understand the key details of the topic and what you need to improve if you want to work with and in this space.
Week 4: Impact Investing Knowledge Base
What You Need to Do:
We invite you to pause for a moment, take a breath, & think about what you’ve learned over the past 3 weeks. How did what you’ve heard touch your everyday life? What was new? What makes you curious for more? What else are you looking for? We’d be so happy to hear from you! Feel free to share your reflections & feedback with us.
Review Upcoming Events
We're going to start hosting some times for you to connect with each other and stay up to date with what's happening in our program. You get to meet some other Fellows; we get to deepen our relationship with you. So come get some time to talk and explore whatever is on our minds or hearts.
In the weeks so far we’ve tried to organize some resources for you to help you go deeper in each part of the program. This might be in getting to know each other, networking with stakeholders in the ecosystem, or preparing your impact investing knowledge or your sustainable finance skills. Please check these out and let us know what you are enjoying.
To get into the room, use that link, or you might need to put in the pass code 1111
To be able to open the breakouts, one of you will first have to claim host privileges. Use the host code 135246 in the participant tab after clicking 'claim host' on the bottom. This will let you open up the Breakout Rooms. Be sure to set the breakout rooms to allow participants to choose rooms.
Next Week’s Community Call
Similar to Last Week, we’ll again have some Self-Directed Fun on Wednesday. This is where you take over the program and host yourselves with discussion and learning time while meeting each other. In the breakout rooms, discuss together in small groups the following questions and start sharing them with the others. So you can learn together and share resources. Maybe these things you can use or find helpful to you on your Peer Project in April? Have fun!
WHAT IS SOMETHING NEW YOU HAVE LEARNED THAT IS HELPFUL? SHARE.
WHAT IS A USEFUL RESOURCE, WEBSITE, TOOL FOR LEARNING? SHARE.
Community Call
Together, we will explore some key concepts fundamental to understanding impact investing and why it is different from sustainable finance. This level of additional focus on creating impact is so important for impact investors to distinguish their work from just profit-making. We encourage you to take this time to develop your knowledge base and see if you might identify some gaps you would like to improve on during the next weeks of the Fellowship program. What topics would you like to explore with your peers?
We'll also review our past resources and the information we've conveyed so far in the program. We'll also spend some time exploring our job resources and opportunities for your career paths.
