Schedule, Time Zones, and Flexibility

What is the schedule for the Community Calls? How long are they?

Our time together on Wednesdays is referred to as the Community Call. The program will take place every other Wednesday, with each call lasting up to two hours. We will try to finish early when possible. We estimate that Fellows will need to commit around 8 hours in total each month, which includes time for meetings and additional learning opportunities. Most of that time will be for these community calls. In between the Community Calls, we will sometimes have socializing, and guest speakers might come in. This is why we ask you to block every Wednesday at the same time for the duration of the program. That way, you can spend one week learning with us, then another week learning with each other, self-directing the learning experience.

What time will the Zoom calls take place?

We are currently reviewing applications to determine the optimal scheduling for our calls. The calls will likely take place in the afternoons CET (Central European Time) and during midday and evening hours for the East Coast, which will allow participants from the USA's West Coast to join in the early mornings and those from Asia to participate in the late evenings.

We understand that organizing a global program makes it challenging to find a time that accommodates everyone. Therefore, we will make every effort to adjust the schedule where possible to offer a time that serves as many participants in our network as we can. Ideally, we would like to provide multiple time slots to cater to different regions around the world.

Is it open to everyone?

All NEIII programs are open to participants worldwide! The online format is designed to make the knowledge accessible to a broader group. This includes those who may face geographical restrictions. Sessions are generally scheduled around lunchtime EST to accommodate participants from different time zones. Due to limited resources, we are unable to offer programs in multiple time zones.

Is it possible to be flexible with meeting times?

We will do our best to select a time based on the availability of applicants. We will also try to accommodate the schedules of our speakers. If you’re unable to attend a session, it’s fine—just let us know and catch up by watching the recording afterwards. We ask that you commit to attending at least 80% of the Community Calls to stay actively engaged. We set a consistent time for all the Community Calls to establish a regular rhythm for our meetings.

What is the tentative schedule for additional online workshops?

The timing will depend on the speaker schedule, but workshops will most likely be held during CET afternoons/evenings, which should allow participants from the USA to join in the morning or at lunchtime.

Homework?

Do you expect additional homework, activities, or study during the week? How many hours should I set aside for weekly activities or additional content?

Readings and videos will be minimal, but they will be available for those who want to delve deeper into certain topics or review the material presented. Each week, you’ll have opportunities to access and review additional resources.
