Week 8: Walk further together: The relevance of peers & community of practice in the impact word

How can we develop communities of practice that further a Just Transition?

We’re almost at the end of our community calls and there’s one thing we won’t let you leave without: The importance of having a strong network of relationships when working in this field! This is a chance to explore impact investing through divestment, empowered organizing, and working together to make a just transition possible. Join us for a community call with 👧 jordyn middlebrooks from reimagine wealth and get inspired by her story of working & weaving with several networks in the field, amongst them resource generation & Radical Planners.

We’re also excited to welcome 👨Adam Wasserman for a skill session on the sustainability regulatory landscape. Adam will give us an overview of the State of ESG Regulation in the USA and the EU. He will discuss, among other things, the proposed disclosures promulgated by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the State of California, such EU disclosure requirements as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), and the standards set forth by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB). Finpublica has been a partner of our Fellowship program and has given our Fellows the chance to explore and connect with like-minded individuals in the field. Also, Adam runs a killer newsletter on ESG news - highly recommended! More resources & opportunities from finpublica below in the recordings section.

We have some additional partner opportunities this week for you to meet up and learn at. Check our List of Events to find out more.

Technology-driven asset manager Ethic will speak to the many ways sustainability data can be leveraged to invest in impact— from investment decisions to connecting managers with clients, and in service of the greater mission of both. Ethic's sustainability team will speak to what’s working & what’s next for the sustainability data landscape. The conversation will build on Ethic's Next Level Conversation at the 2024 Higher Education Climate Leadership Summit, where Kelly Mahoney, Director of Growth at Ethic, explored strategies for collaborative sustainable investing and discussed ways to foster collaboration and consensus to drive forward sustainable initiatives.

New Economy Coalition - Event on Solidarity Economies 101 w/ NEC

What do we mean by “economy” & what are solidarity economies? How can you connect and build upon the economic practices of cooperation and solidarity that already exist? Register for SE 101 today to explore some of these questions! Another world is possible, where we honor our interdependence and care for each other; where communities govern themselves through participatory democracy, cooperative and public ownership, and a culture of solidarity and respect for the earth. Let’s learn together about the values, practices, and community-based strategies that provide real alternatives to racial capitalism. An economy that is not built by us, will be built against us.* As we witness the natural consequences of unbridled capitalism—including worsening climate change, an ongoing pandemic, and genocide—we must double down on alternative models that protect life and the planet, challenge the capitalist economic order and build outside of it.
